Winter Outfit Styling

Styling in different climates is always going to be a bit of a challenge. I will probably make a post like this for Summer as well, but as of now, it's going to be winter themed.
When it is winter, you want to have an elegant and stylish sense of fashion, as well as all year around really. When the weather outside is so extremely hot or cold, you need to make sure you can incorporate style and sensibility, which leads my on to my first tip.

1. Layers!
Layering is the base, and the root to winter fashion, because it's what makes it suitable for the cold weather. With layers there comes many different options, so here's my list of layers in order:

#1 Regular T-Shirt
#2 Cozy wool knitted sweater
#3 An Elegant Trench coat (my favorite) or a jacket of your choice.
#4 Winter stockings (if you are in fact wearing a skirt or shorts)
#5 Wool socks
#6 Your favorite pair of warm boots, heels or sneakers that can endure the climate!

Customize how you layer your outfits based on the climate where you live, and what items of your wardrobe you'd like to wear. Layering is an essential to winter fashion, and a need-to-know in my opinion.

2. Coats, Coats, Coats!

Coats are the icing on the cake for your winter outfits (we'll talk about what the cherry on top is later).  Pick your favorite trench coat, baggy jacket, leather biker jacket or a fuzzy lined denim coat, and style it fittingly. Color coordinate the jacket you wear, with the layers underneath in, the bottoms you will wear and the accessories you will wear.

3. Have A Go-To Pair Of Boots

Boots will be your best friend, and you will probably regret not having a pair of boots (or multiple for that matter) that can survive the harsh conditions of winter. Boots that can get wet, muddy and be effortlessly stylish are the way to go. If you don't plan on getting mucky, get some over-the-knee boots, and pair them with a wool sweater dress, and that trench coat I mentioned earlier. For the shorter ankle boots, wear your winter stockings, and wool socks so that your legs don't get cold, or just wear them with your favorite pair of jeans.

4. Accessorize
This is the cherry on top that I was talking about earlier; accessories. Hats, purses, etc.
A (vegan) leather purse, or a small, chic backpack, in the design of your choice can bring an outfit the small trimmings it needs to make it perfect. A soft, white or tan cashmere beanie is a comfortable choice, and provides warmth to any casually stylish winter outfit. Layer a couple of silver bangles, and you're wristwatch to give a sophisticated air of elegance to your look, and add a pinch of bling.

5. Scarfs
Scarfs are amazing. They can spice up an outfit with a cool design, they can blend and make the entire outfit coordinate better, or they can just serve as another item to keep you warm in December. The choice is yours. I personally love plaid scarves. Anything plaid is enough to send me over the edge pretty much, skirts, jackets, scarves, but that's a post for another time. Scarves can be tucked under the collar of your jacket, they can be loosely flung over you shoulder, or can just be hanging over your shoulders. I personally like getting a jacket, and looping the scarf of choice around my neck, and tucking it under the collar of my jacket, as I think it makes me look very put together (even when I'm very much not).

Those were all my winter outfit styling tips, and thank you for reading it. If you enjoyed, be sure to follow my blog, and comment what you would like me to write about next. Thanks so much for reading,
